On Friday 4th May 2007, Professor David Wilson, Shihan Dai Stuart Rogers, Sensei James St Clare Newman, and Kensei Ben Officer travelled to Sweden to take part in the first Kempo Jujitsu Academy Kansen Ryu International Budo Seminar which was organised by Renshi David BloodHolland (founder of the Kempo Jujitsu Academy, Oskarshamn, Sweden). Arriving at Malmo airport at 09.30 we were picked up by Renshi BloodHolland who drove us the four hour onward journey to Oskarshamn. Friday evening David (along with a large group of his students) took us all for a quite meal at a local Greek restaurant where we were joined by Sigung Ribeiro, and Sigung Rebelo who had just arrived from Portugal.

SATURDAY 5th MAY 2007.

Saturday started with an introductory meeting of the instructors at the sports centre, while the one hundred plus students eagerly prepared for the days event. This was followed by a welcome speech by Oskarshamn’s council leader. Renshi BloodHolland officially opened the seminar by introducing all the instructors for the event, and welcomed all the participants from the United Kingdom, Belgium, Portugal, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden. The seminar consisted of five tatami, and a sixth area for Kobudo. With an array of martial arts styles being taught, a tiring but wonderful day was had by one and all. The seminar was closed at 4.30 pm with a certificate presentation to all the participants, and a present for the teaching instructors. The seminar was followed by a Sensei dinner at a local Chinese restaurant, with many of the days participants in attendance.

On behalf of our BKI members who attended this wonderful budo gathering, I would like to thank our host Renshi BloodHolland and all his students for making our stay in Oskarshamn so enjoyable and memorable. We are looking forward to seeing you all at the second budo gathering in May next year.
