The symbol we have adopted for Bushin Kenpo International is "Hannya." Hannya is the name for the ladies fearsome face below. It is said that Hannya was once a beautiful women who fell in love with a priest and in a jealous rage, she became a supernatural beast. It is believed that because she has supernatural powers and is so frightening, she will scare off all the nasty demons and our enemies.

There are a number of schools and associations around the UK who have adopted Hannya including the Mushin Budo Association, Dartford Jujitsu Club, Kenseikai Jujitsu Gravesend, and Colneyheath Goshin Jujitsu Club. This symbol was originally the patch for the Kenseikai Jujitsu Association of which the designer of this version of Hannya (Hanshi John Griffiths) and Grandmaster David Wilson were senior members. The kanji surrounding these Hannya differs from school to school, however the artwork remains the property of Hanshi Griffiths. Professor Wilson has seeked permission to use this artwork from Hanshi Griffiths. Below you can find a translation of the Kanji that surrounds our Hannya logo.

Our second patch is the projection logo seen at the top of each page. This logo was designed by one of our students (Dave Walsh). The projection is a line drawing taken from a photo of David Wilson and Stuart Rogers demonstrating redirection of force from a fast attack. This logo is popular within our schools, where as our Hannya logo has become our international symbol.
